Ruth: A Prequel to Christmas Present

"There is an old wives tale that says that when trials or blessings come, "They come in Threes." I don't think there has been any scientific data to prove this but it's amazing how often it seems to be true. Last week we began our exploration of the book of Ruth and the opening prologue grabbed us by the hand and led us right into the tragedies and trials of this story where Naomi and her family experience three tragedies...first famine, then her husband dies and then a few years later, both her sons die. Now what?

Of all the themes we find in this book, I'm suggesting that the underlining theme is God's providence = Behind the scenes, at all times in our lives God is at work-working out HIS sovereign, loving plan. Last week, we learned that God uses everything-even what results from our mistakes to accomplish His purposes."
